When COVID-19 interrupted in-person learning more than a year ago, people and organizations across Central Massachusetts stepped up to the plate.
The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, the YWCA of Central Massachusetts, and eight other organizations set up 19 remote learning sites for approximately 1,200 virtual learning students. (See the full list of remote learning sites below.) Leadership was provided by the City of Worcester, the United Way of Central MA, and Edward Street.
However, as we blogged about in early March, Worcester’s youngest students needed more remote learning support through the end of the school year. Fortunately, three local organizations answered the call.
The George I. Alden Trust, the Stoddard Charitable Trust, and the Fletcher Foundation contributed a combined $800,000 towards remote learning infrastructure, technology and support staff.
Thanks to their incredible generosity, and the generosity and hard work of so many others, Worcester’s youngest students are continuing to learn and grow on pace with their peers.
